Okay, so this is the deal: My girlfriend is not your average woman…in a good way, IMO. She doesn’t like diamonds (largely due to their means of production, i.e. blood diamonds, but also because they’re typical and unoriginal). In fact, she rarely wears jewellery and would never be caught dead in a pair of heels. This is my idea. We first fell in love in Panama, and there was a particular beach that we were fond of at the time. My goal is to get someone to ship me a bottle of sand from that beach, with which I will either melt myself or bring to a glassblower to turn into a quartz-like glassy material. Should be feasible, no? Any experiences on this, or sources for how to DIY, or just pictures of what it would look like?
Then I was thinking about colours, and how to give them significance. One of my thoughts was to somehow collect a few drops of our blood and combine this with the melted sand. Would that even be possible?

She and I both want to get married. I have not proposed yet. I was working on a design for a custom engagement and wedding band combo (two parts, engagement and wedding, that when put together would make one awesome ring). I finally got her into a jewelry store (Keepsake) for a sizing and to get an idea of her tastes. Now I don’t know what to do. She didn’t like a single ring in there. She gravitated to the plain band (was it for a guy or a girl? who knows) and tried those on. Later she said she didn’t even like the bands because those are too plain for her, but every thing else was too much. She tells me she doesn’t like diamonds. Fine with me. Money doesn’t matter either way, just her being happy so I’ll have bonus cash for the honeymoon right! 1-what kind of ring can I get her that’s more detailed than a wedding band and less detailed than every other common wedding ring? What really got me confused is she says she’ll only wear one ring! I’m totally lost on that one. I though all women got two rings. 2-My main question is how does that work with two events, engagement and wedding, but only one ring? 3-How can I possibly propose with out a ring or get married without one? 4-Also, are some rings supposed to be on the right hand sometimes? Unfortunately, I’m not going to buy a ring, have a custom one made, or even propose until I can figure out the logistics. We get to wait because we have unique tastes I guess. Thank you for the laugh ME. I forgot to mention she’s opposed to wearing two rings at once and that includes two being soldered together. I’m having trouble finding a unique women’s white gold wedding band. I’d like something that has an antique style or something with an etched design (maybe floral, with vines, or along those lines, but not celtic). Probably nothing with any diamonds or gemstones. It’s got to be completely round, not one that will fit around the engagement ring, because I’ll only be wearing the band to work once we get married. My husband got a e-mail from a girl and it was a love letter sayin’ how she missed him, and loved him BLAH BLAH BLAHHHH….. it upset me soooooooooo bad. Naturally. Well, someone told me it was possibl;e to get a e-mail intended for someone else? But, he has a very unique e-mail address?? it’s his name, underscore ( _ ) and a number. OF COURSE I ask him about it! Crying and the whole bit, he denies every smackin’ thing, naturally. Is this possible it was a mistake?? And it has a phone number in it and it’s a city that he was workin’ near around that time…. and it said something about going on the trains, but I did contact the city and they don’t have anything like that. AND, It doesn’t have reference to him at all. Like, It never says his name in the e-mail, anywhere.
